Climate Institute

The Climate Institute at Cape May Point Arts and Science Center supports research and education of climate change and its impacts on our coastal ecosystems and communities, and the development of climate solutions.

Our ocean and coastal ecosystems play a critical role in our climate system. They store massive amounts of carbon (often called “blue carbon”); absorb heat; support biodiversity; help to sustain fisheries which support local jobs; and protect coastal communities from rising seas, storm surges, erosion, and flooding. Yet, climate change is already impacting our coastal ecosystems and the health and well-being of coastal communities and economies, underscoring the urgent need for action based on rigorous science; public education and awareness; and the development of solutions that work for people and protect our planet.

The Climate Institute at Cape May Point Arts and Science Center offers a unique opportunity for climate education, scientific research, and a “living lab” for the development of climate solutions.

We are currently building out our programming for the upcoming year. If you are interested in learning more and getting involved, contact us at climate@cmpscience.org.
