This four-week program is designed for students 10 -17 years of age who have a deep desire for expressing their world through art and who want to explore and expand their own style while learning different techniques and modalities. We are focused and invested in what we create for the entire four-week session. Class meets 9:30 - 11:30 AM. Pre-Registration is required!
We will explore several different mediums including pencil, pen & ink, brush markers, colored pencils, watercolors and acrylics, plus touch on calligraphy, script, nature journaling and personal picture books. These materials are easy for students to tote with them as we explore the natural world of flower garden and wooded dunes and focus on many natural objects like shells, skeletons, taxidermy mounts and more! I will encourage students to work on their craft between classes and bring in anything they’ve created outside of class to share with us.
All supplies will be provided
Students MUST be 10 years old by July 1, 2024 to participate
Limited to 10 participants
Registration can be booked here.
Please wear comfortable clothing and a hat if sensitive to the sun. Shoes suitable for exploring are essential. Bring a beach towel to sit on when outside and a water bottle. No snacks will be provided so please come well fed.
Peaches Lukens grew up with a thirst for nature and a love of Art. She attempted a brief stint at Moore College of Art in Philadelphia, but Nature was her true passion so she headed to Stockton University. She graduated in 1981 with a major in Environmental Science and independent study in Cetacean behavior. In 1995 she created a children's Nature camp at the Bayside Center and Elementary school program for the city of Ocean City NJ that she organized and taught for many years. As a homeschooling mother of two daughters, she taught art, theater, sign-singing and ecology to children through a local cooperative she created. Passionate about Montessori education, she received her certification and opened Garden Gate School. Peaches and her husband Mike moved to Cape Island in 2018. First by boat. Then to 3 acre farm where they are living their homestead dream.
