Family Science Night

Join us for a fun night of science for the whole family!

Move throughout the exhibit halls and our pollinator garden and visit hands-on, interactive stations that engage you and your children in science activities. Stations will include:

  • Raves for REPTILES! - Learn more about what makes snakes, lizards, turtles and other reptiles unique and visit with some real, live ones up close!

  • Nature Journaling - Decorate the cover of your own nature journal (provided, one per visitor) and then try your hand at sketching some flowers, insects and more in our pollinator garden!

  • Exploring Cetacean Photo Identification - Learn about how marine mammal researchers tell individual dolphins and whales apart and how individual humpback whales get their names. Then create your own whale tail pattern and give it a name!

  • Pollinators are the Bomb! - Make your own seed bombs containing native pollinator plant seeds to take home and help you create important habitat for bees, butterflies and more in your own yard!

  • SORT IT OUT Science Game - Use natural objects like shells, rocks, seeds, etc. to investigate the scientific practice of classification.

  • Nature Stories - Relax to readings of specially selected nature-inspired storybooks.

  • “Watershed Mindfulness” Activities with Clean Ocean Action - Expand your understanding of your connectedness to our vast network of waterways that ultimately leads to the ocean by participating in two activities about nonpoint source pollution, or people pollution; how each of us contributes to ocean pollution; and how we can help to stop it.

PLUS - Explore our science exhibits, go on a Science Center scavenger hunt and more!
